Aunkita Nandi – How this young girl from West Bengal built a million-dollar company from scratch, Wants to become the world’s famous Saas company
Aunkita Nandi belongs to the state of West Bengal and comes from a middle-class family. We can describe her as a girl who had big dreams and a thoughtful mind.
Aunkita Nandi always wanted to start a company of her own that would help and create opportunities for other people in society. She is a hardworking and passionate girl. Aunkita worked hard to fulfill her dream. And today she is an inspiration to so many of us and we are really proud of her.
Aunkita Nandi – Founder’s Background
Aunkita Nandi hails from one of the oldest towns of West Bengal, India named Burdwan. She is a part of a middle-class family where her father is a railway engineer and her mother is a homemaker. As said by Aunkita Nandi in an interview, she was an average student but she believes that being good in academics isn’t the only ticket to being successful in life.
She studied in a Bengali medium school but that never stood as a barrier to having dreams of being successful one day. Her mother used to constantly nag about improving her academic performance and drew up a comparison with her classmates, but nothing shook the confidence in her.
It feels so good to know that no matter what, Aunkita Nandi always had high confidence and that’s one of the many things we should applaud her for.
Aunkita’s Life Before Starting Tier5
Aunkita Nandi holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University Institute of Technology in Burdwan. Her connection with a computer began when she was 12 years and started using the Windows-98 on her nine years older brother.
During her college years, she along with three of her friends started making several Android apps and sold them online, and earned money. That’s when the entrepreneur in her rose to the surface.
Soon after college, she shifted to Kolkata. Even though her business continued, her lifestyle changed for the worse. Party life, alcohol addictions became part of life, but thankfully she realized that it’s not the lifestyle she had dreamt of and walked away from those addictions. Their business had also ended by 2014.
Tier5 – New beginnings for Aunkita Nandi
Aunkita started with Tier5 on 5th January 2016, along with her American boyfriend Jon Vaughn. She connected with him through a dating app named Tinder. Jon, a software engineer from Florida, visited India and met Aunkita at Chillis in Quest Mall, Kolkata in 2015. Jon had soon proposed to Aunkita, and she had mentioned in an interview that it wasn’t a formal proposal, but she didn’t need any proposal because they were already in love. To add on, Jon said that it was love at first sight and they have been together ever since. About 6 months after their first meet the couple launched Tier5 in Kolkata with its US office in Indiana.
Tier5 – Introduction to Aunkita’s Startup
Tier5 is a product-based company and has around 21 products today. The company offers a partner program through which several businesses can use their products online for a monthly subscription period or buy and then resell their products making a profit.
They aim to make innovative, beautiful, and user-friendly products to help business owners get more clients which will grow their business. Their primary focus is to use technology, and bring out its true potential that will ease their customer’s interaction with their clients, enabling them to deliver quality services.
The Success Story of Tier5
They had initially started with 2 rented computers, their saving of 5 lakh rupees, and one developer and one HR personnel. They got their initial clients through organic Facebook marketing.
They also had around 15 employees by the end of the first year and now they have 100 employees. They are known to be serving over 7000 customers globally and have also been seeing a higher growth rate.
